Josephine Bonaparte' Dress - $27.95

This lovely Dress features:

  • A fuschia antique* taffeta dress with a gathered bodice and puffed sleeves.
  • A cream satin underskirt that peeks through.
  • It has trimmings of cream braid and elegant cream
lace. The dress is also trimmed with a cream ribbon
    bow.

*Because the taffeta is genuinely antique, the fabric has slight creases from where it has been folded.

Only one dress is available. This dress will not be remade.

This dress was inspired by a dress seen in a period film. It is similar to what would have been worn by noble women during the Regency period. Towards the close of this period, darker red and pink colors were stylish in women’s clothing.

Who is Josephine Bonaparte?

Josephine was the first wife of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and the first Empress of France. Napoleon eventually divorced her for being unable to bear children. Though their marriage was short, Napoleon repeatedly expressed devotion to Josephine, even after they divorced. Josephine was also an avid rose collector, and when she died she had the largest collection in the world at that time.
